The Return

This image represents the culmination of nearly 3 years of tenacious resilience. After two and a half years of chemotherapy, I managed to convince surgeons to give me a liver transplant. This was the first time since the surgery that I was interested in picking up my camera, finding the desire that cancer takes from you, once again. It's a testimony to the obstacles that we find along our paths. Only with distance do we see them in their entirety. It is perhaps only then that we can begin to understand what we and the ones we love have suffered, endured, and discovered. Maybe that is the lesson that adversity brings us. Though surely we never wished for such a thing, perhaps we had better learn from it. Maybe only then we can find peace, no matter what the outcome may be.
