Trouble in Paradise

Description

We had this amazing opportunity. We had no summer plans and then out of the blue we get offered a home exchange in the Turks and Caicos islands. I’ll be honest I had to get a map out find out where they were!! As my wife and I are divers we jumped at the chance. Now most who visit T&C’s never leave their all inclusive, but our house came with a car ! So I was determined to get out and see some of the place. So one of our adventures took us to North Caicos. Now long before it’s beach paradise status, it had been a place of plantations and slavery. Whilst there we stopped to visit one. Despite the turquoise sea and the lush tropical foliage The atmosphere there was really awful. My children, who knew nothing of the significance of the place just wanted to get out of there. It was a hard place to visit & that knot of anxiety stayed with me all day. This shot presented itself shortly after leaving the plantation and it captured my mood perfectly
